Forest path

This was taken in the mountains outside of Manganji Temple in Japan. I didn't have a great camera with me at the time, but I still really love this photo.

STORYTIME:
This path climbed up the side of a really steep hill and when I arrived at the temple, we were told that we would have some free time to wander around before our first meeting with the monks. Wander I did, taking lots of pictures. I climbed the path to get pictures of the layout of the temple and then came down for our meeting.

After meeting with our guides, we were told we were going to climb up the path but to be very careful and stay several steps behind one of the monks because there were many poisonous snakes that lived on the hillside and the monks would scare them away before we got there. I told them I had already climbed the entire hillside taking photos and one of the monks smiled, laughed and said, "They didn't bite you. You must have a good heart." And then let me lead the way up the hillside.
I was fine until at our destination a GIANT bright orange and blue spider landed on my shoulder and I screamed and dropped everything I was carrying and did the "get it off me" dance. The monks were not so impressed then. I got scolded for not respecting the spider. ^^b
