It's really choppy and suuuuuper scribbly because I took like 30 seconds to draw each frame. Please fill in the gaps and gloss over the art with your wonderful imagination! I made it in Windows Movie Maker which is an absolutely evil program =o=

Eurovision nightGot myself some ice cream and will be making myself compfy on the sofa so I'm ready for the big, glittery, horrible music, camp, pointless politics, drama that is eurovision. It never disappoints me. :la:
Sadly I will be alone for this one. Matt had to do a concert he didn't want to do, so I will be live tweeting (humonlazydiva) my impression of the whole shebang. :D
The Echo chamber dilemmaThe promise of the Internet was that unlimited information and experiences would draw us together. But instead it seems to have driven us apart.
For years I've observed this behavior but haven't been able to vocalize it correctly. Originally I called the behavior of collective opinions as "the hive mentality" of the Internet. But that wasn't exactly right and I often got called out on it. The most prominent example was when I made a comic about a guy disagreeing with opinions and being shouted at till he remained quiet, eventually fading into the background with everyone else. The consensus of that comic was that if you disagree with someone you aren't bullied into not speaking, but instead are free to go someplace else where people who do agree with you exist. And you know what? That wasn't what i was trying to convey, but is sadly true. The Internet is not a hive mind. It's many tiny pocket echo chambers of mutual agreements.

Closing up

My physical store is going to be closing in June. I can't handle the overhead to have the storefront in town. I will continue to do custom orders, but go back to doing them out of my home as I was before I attempted to have a brick and mortar.
It was fun while it lasted, but it is way too much work to end up in the red. I realized I had been working 14-20 hours a day 6-7 days a week for 1 1/2 years without a vacation at all. And at the end of the year, I ended up in the hole several thousand dollars. I guess I really am more the creative type and less the business type. I can't keep track of numbers the way I need to. I'm also not willing to compromise my ethics to make a buck. So for all those reasons and a few I haven't mentioned, I'm going to close down at the end of June.
If you're anywhere nearby, stop in June for freaking huge clearance liquidation sales.
